Hikvision is one of the largest manufacturers of CCTV surveillance cameras. Their IP cameras feature megapixel resolution, wide dynamic range, and remote zoom and auto-focus lenses.

They have very large selections of megapixel IP cameras, ranging from economical dome IP cameras to high-performance PTZ cameras. The dome, bullet and box type cameras range in resolution from 1.3-Mpixels to 8.85-Mpixels (4K). Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) is available in many of their megapixel cameras.  Take a look at our latest 4K IP camera product review.  Hikvision performed better than the Axis 4 K camera.

Why purchase from Kintronics? Because we not only provide excellent pricing, we also provide fantastic consulting and advice to make sure you purchase the right IP camera system.

Hikvision compares favorably with Hanwha IP cameras, Axis, and other major brands. For example, the box cameras feature very low light sensitivity. The 1.3 megapixel box camera can see in lighting as low as 0.01 lux in color and 0.001 lx in B/W. As a comparison the Axis P1354 has a low light sensitivity of only 0.1 lx in color and 0.02 lx B/W.

Take a look at our IP camera buyers guide for more about how Hikvision compares to Hanwha, Sony, Axis, and other cameras.

Indoor and Outdoor Dome IP Cameras

IP dome cameras are available for indoor or outdoor applications. You can select camera resolution, IR illumination, Wide Dynamic Range and remote zoom and auto-focus lens.

The remote zoom and focus lenses make installation much easier. You simply manually aim the camera and then use your computer to zoom and focus the lens. This is a very time-saving feature.

There are two types of domes, Pro Series and Value Series. The Value Series includes only 1.3 and 3.0-megapixel cameras, while the Pro series provides 1.2, 2.0, 3.0 and 5.0-megapixel resolution, with remote zoom and focus lenses as well as WDR.

Application note: When should you select a camera with Wide Dynamic Range?

WDR Example
WDR Example

WDR allows you to see the video in a wide range of lighting conditions. One example is when you are looking at a loading dock that has sunlight on a part of the floor area. Another example is when people are in front of a large window or glass door and you would like to see the people both inside and outside the area. WDR is usually provided by taking multiple pictures at different gain settings and then averaging the result into one composite picture. Most of the cameras that claim WDR provide at least 60 dB of contrast. The Hikvision cameras are rated at 120 dB.
