Rather than requiring a separate analog audio network, IP intercom stations can communicate across Ethernet networks. Many systems also support Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing both data and electrical power to be delivered through a single network cable.

IP Intercoms Provide Door Control
IP intercoms are particularly valuable at secured entrances.
A visitor can press the call button at a locked door and speak directly with security personnel or another authorized employee. When the intercom is combined with an appropriately positioned IP camera, the operator can also visually verify the visitor.
The operator can then determine whether to remotely release the electric lock.

Unlock the door if authorized.
