Sony SNC-RZ25N IP Network PTZ Camera

Sorry, the SNC-RZ25, SNC-RZ50, and the RX550 have been discontinued.

Please take a look at the latest Sony IP PTZ cameras. They provide much better performance than this older model.

For example, the latest Sony PTZ W-series of pan, tilt, zoom (PTZ) IP cameras use the most advanced IPELA ENGINE™. These are all megapixel cameras – two indoor and two outdoor models with unitized enclosures make them easy to use indoors or outdoors.

The 130 dB of wide dynamic range allows them to be used in a wide range of lighting conditions.

You can select the 1.3 or the 2.0-megapixel resolution model. The amazing 30 X optical zoom and 2-megapixel sensor, allows you to recognize a person’s face from about 900 ft away.

Other Older and Discontinued PTZ Cameras

There are a number of older models available. For example, the SNC-RH164, SNC-RH-124, SNC-RS86N, and SNC-RS46N are still available, but probably not the best choice for new applications.

Models that have been discontinued include SNC-RX550, SNC-RZ50 and SNC-RZ30

Comparison of the SNC-RZ25 and the new PTZ Cameras

Sony PTZ camera.  The older SNC-RZ25 had a resolution of only 640 x 480, while the latest cameras have resolutions up to 1920 x 1080. The low light sensitivity has been improved from 0.7 lux to 0.03 lux.

The latest W-Series PTZ cameras from Sony have megapixel resolution and include wide dynamic range which assures you will see the video in the most challenging lighting conditions.

Sony is known for performance. This means you will get better video, in different lighting situations, with a higher likelihood you can identify a person’s face. These are top-quality IP cameras with excellent reliability. They come with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.

WDR allows you to operate in challenging lighting conditions. The new W-series cameras include the latest video processing chip that provides 130 dB of wide dynamic range (WDR). This makes it a good choice for applications where you are viewing a scene with very large differences in lighting. The Sony cameras provide both WDR and low light level performance at the same time, while other manufacturers such as Axis require that you choose between low light performance and WDR.

Gyro Based Image Stabilizer. Whenever you zoom in on objects that are far away (30X), you require camera stability. The image stabilizer makes sure you get a clear image even if the camera is mounted on a pole that’s buffeted by the wind.
