Comparison of Integrated Security Management Software

Security Software that Integrates Management of IP Surveillance Cameras, Door Access Control, Visitor Management, and More.

Integration of Security Management

The latest security management software products create an integrated and centralized security platform that allows security personnel to manage multiple security technologies. Security systems, including surveillance cameras, access control, intercoms, and visitor management, can be managed through a single software system. This integrated management system enhances the effectiveness of security systems.

This article compares integrated management systems that support multiple classes of equipment.

Review of Security Management Software:

The classic management systems are sold to support specific types of security hardware. There was Video Management Software (VMS) for IP Cameras, Access Control Management Software, Intercom management, and other security software. They are tied to specific brands of equipment.

Access control management software controls door entry systems. It determines who can enter, which door they can use, and when they are allowed to come in. This type of management Software is usually exclusive to a manufacturer’s hardware.

IP Camera Management software, also known as Video Management Software, is designed to manage IP cameras. It allows users to install, view, and recover recorded videos.

Intercom and Paging System management enables users to make announcements over an IP paging system. It also allows users to call the central command center using an intercom.

Visitor Management Systems manage and record the entry of visitors to an organization.

Integrated Security Management Systems

Here are some examples of integrated solutions that support multiple security systems. Some are primarily video management or Access Control software systems. One of them has modules that handle each of the security mechanisms.

Here are some examples:

Hartmann Enterprise Management Software

Hartmann Integrated Access Management

This is an Access Control Management software that also allows for viewing IP cameras controlled by another VMS system.

The Hartmann Enterprise Access Control Management software enables IP cameras to be viewed alongside the access control system on the same screen. This added capability allows security personnel to view the entry and exit areas of the organization that are triggered by the access control system.

Pros of this solution: The software is designed for use with the Hartman access control hardware. It can view selected video feeds from the IP Camera surveillance system. This makes it easy to verify entry, prevent piggybacking, and ensure that exit and entry areas are safe. It can also view recorded surveillance video.

The access control management software is sophisticated yet easy to use, allowing control of elevators, and uses powerful if-then logic. Both the on-site software and the cloud version can control the doors from a smartphone.

Cons: Video Management Software, such as WAVE and Milestone, is also required to install and manage cameras. The cloud version doesn’t support camera viewing.

When to use it: If you require an Access Control System that provides an at-the-door wiring configuration that accommodates a wide range of door readers, the Hartmann solution is a suitable choice.

Acre Access

Acre Integrated Management System

This is an Access Control software that provides a unified interface for managing various security systems, including IP camera systems and other security devices. It features an open interface that enables connection with various video management software systems. It includes an on-site or cloud-based management system.

Pros: It works with Mercury Panels, which offer flexible door reader options, as well as other enhancements, such as elevator controls. This is primarily an enterprise system with hundreds of doors, capable of handling thousands of doors. It works with some wireless locks.

Cons: Requires separate Video Management Software, such as Milestone or Exacq, to install and manage the IP Cameras. It only integrates Access Control and IP Camera Management systems. It’s limited to medium-sized (100) door reader systems.

When to use it: It is a good choice when you need support for fewer than 100 doors.

HxGN dC3 from Hexagon

Hexagon Integrated Security Management

This product is based on the Ocularis Video Management Software. You can add the S2 Access control software. It supports Lenell, Isonas (hosted), and other access control.

Pros: This is a good choice if you want to start with a video management system that integrates with access control. It is a unified physical security technology ecosystem designed to manage the entire lifecycle of an incident and minimize its impact. This innovative solution integrates the C3 approach — Command, Control, and Collaborate — familiar from the control center environment, with advanced event detection capabilities.

Con: It requires an access control management system to install and control door readers.

When to use it:

Armatura One Solution

Armatura Integrated Security Management

This is an all-in-one solution with an Access Control and Video Management System that integrates other solutions not handled by other integrated systems. It is a web-based solution that includes multiple modules, such as Access Control, Time & Attendance, Elevator, Visitor Management, Parking Management, Fire Alarm, Entrance Control, Face Kiosks, Temperature Detection, Data Monitoring, Building Automation, and Intrusion Detection.

It includes features such as:

  • Digital Map that can integrate with Google Maps, GIS maps, and SuperMap.
  • Scalable: that can handle over 10,000 edge devices such as controllers, door units, readers, sensors, etc.
  • Manages over one million users
  • Flexible communication protocols: Includes support for over 260 industrial protocols such as BACnet, OPC, Modbus, etc., which makes Armatura One easily integrable with Building Management Systems (BMS) or Property Management Systems (PMS)
  • High Security: All communications are encrypted with Advanced Encryption Standards and Transport Layer Security (TLS) cryptographic protocols
  • Supports many types of door readers and credentials, such as RFID, Mobile credentials, and biometric technology.

Pros: This is an excellent solution for organizations that require multiple security systems managed under one system. It includes built-in modules that support IP cameras, access control, visitor management, Apartment intercoms, and other devices.

Cons: No significant cons.

When to use it: If you want to incorporate biometric door readers into your access control system, this is an appropriate choice. It is also an excellent solution for complex security environments that include access control, surveillance cameras, visitor management, and apartment intercom systems.

Why is Integrated Software Helpful

An integrated security platform unites all your protection systems — video surveillance, door access control, intercoms, and paging — under a single software interface. Instead of running several disconnected applications, operators can monitor and manage everything from one dashboard.

This approach improves situational awareness, operational efficiency, and response time across your entire organization.

Summary of Benefits

Integrated security management software provides:

  • Better awareness through unified data.
  • Faster responses during emergencies.
  • Simpler operation for staff.
  • Lower long-term costs through consolidation.
  • Scalable flexibility for future technologies.

By combining IP cameras, door access, intercoms, and paging into one cohesive system, organizations create a smarter, safer, and more responsive environment — where every device works together to protect people and property.
