Keep Calm and Plan Ahead

Despite the challenges caused by COVID-19, Kintronics continues to respond to all the needs of our customers. Most of our staff are working remotely to ensure that we continue to provide the best information, advice, and IP security products. In light of this situation, we offer some suggestions that may make this all a bit easier.

Take a Deep Breath

The tension caused by challenging times can cause many health problems. I know that my lower back has been hurting for the last few weeks. Tension! According to some people, anxiety is more dangerous than a virus. I don’t know if this is true or not, but we certainly need to relax.  Let’s take a deep breath. Focus on your breathing. As you slowly breathe in and out, try to relax those tense muscles. Things will get better. It just takes time.

In a message from Nathan O. Hatch from Wake Forest University, “We at Wake Forest all have seen our day-to-day reality turned topsy-turvy. The normal patterns of life have been rudely upended as we face the reality of COVID-19 and its implications for our own health and that of our families and communities.”

“… Every precaution needs to be taken, and medical and public health advice sought out and heeded. But we also should recognize what can happen when, suddenly, we are not in control and are subject to ominous and unpredictable forces — in this case, a mysterious disease. It is okay to be scared, but we can easily feel trapped and let fear run wild. Taking one day at a time, we must regain our solid footing and not let irrational fear turn us against one another rather than toward each other.”

Here is my prediction (and hope). In a few months, we’ll have exciting stories to tell. There will be a vaccine in place and maybe even a cure. That’s how things work. Let’s make some lemonade out of these lemon times and take advantage of opportunities. Consider the long view.

Make the Best of the Situation

The quote from Wake Forest continues with, “ .. Finally, we need to make sure that the stress of this crisis bends us toward each other. We need the discipline and conviction to lift our eyes beyond merely our personal and family safety and security when possible. What are the needs of our neighbors, our classmates, our colleagues from work?”

Maybe now is the time to do some positive things.

We have an opportunity to do some things that we were putting off. With everyone out of the school or office, we can consider repairing the infrastructure, do some equipment installations, make structural repairs, and upgrades. Let’s do things that we couldn’t do in normal times because they were disruptive.

As we face these uncertain times, let us all take heart, renew our purposes, gain perspective, look to the future, and come out stronger in the end.
